Donald Trump claimed on CNN that efforts are underway to guide the network onto a normal path, sparking intense debate over media freedom.
Trump made the statement during a phone call to anchor Jake Tapper on Sunday, when he phoned in to discuss Senator Lindsey Graham’s death. The former president did not elaborate on what he meant by steering CNN’s direction.
“We’re trying to have CNN go on a normal path, and we’ll do that,” Trump said during the call. Tapper responded by thanking Trump for his time and inviting him back to the network.
